As part of a general ongoing declutter and reorganisation it has begun to dawn on me that I have an awful lot of ongoing projects. I cannot even say half finished, sometimes box has been opened, said project looks a bit complicated and box gets closed again.
My projects tend to cluster around hand sewing, via card making, weaving, bookmark making, drawing, painting, a brief flirtation with acrylic pouring – not attempted as it is messy and I have nowhere to do it. So that box got given intact to the charity shop. (It was from the Works so not a massive investment!).
Currently I have on the go a tapestry of a dahlia – with so many subtle colour changes I need to be on a tropical sunlit beach to have enough light; a large bookmark using up wool from another tapestry and a couple of little sewing projects trying out different stitches.

In the waiting in the wings category are a wool sampler showcasing different stitches in the style of the famous YSL Mondrian block dress; several little embroidered pieces including a multi coloured Highland Cow.
In the ideas department are making a needle holder, a cloth book to showcase said pieces, and a cover for a stool.
I am booked onto a weaving day in November and tempted by a little doggy sewing project for a dog loving friend for (whisper it) Xmas. I don’t generally do cute and I am not sure she does either, so this may not happen. Which reminds me I have a bead embroidery card for another friend’s birthday next Feb.
Am I alone in this?
Is it a female thing? Or do men do the same? I am wondering about sheds with lots of shiny tools and bits of wood and metal. Sorry to be so classically sexist!
Questions: Why do I find it so hard to finish anything? I have more than enough things to complete to last me a lifetime, so why am I tempted with more?
I get the dopamine hit thing and I usually wait a bit before clicking on the buy button. I am better at the pause and wait and it does work quite a lot of the time but doesn’t totally stop the purchasing. Do I need help?
Does creative kits anonymous exist?
Is this ringing any bells for any of you? It would be a huge comfort to know I am not alone in this welter of colour, wool and potential creativity.
As I am writing this it is pouring with rain so a perfect opportunity to crack on with some of the current projects………or have a little investigate for something new and tempting!
